How often should I be logging CAS?
Frequently. Think every-other-week at the minimum. The best practice for CAS is to input any planned experiences about a week before you do them. Then get your homeroom teacher to approve the experience PRIOR to doing them.
What is the difference between “Approved” and “Complete”?
An “Approved” experience means that based on what you put in, your CAS Supervisor (homeroom teacher or IB Coordinator) thinks the experience will meet the requirements. A “Complete” experience means that you have included your evidence and written your reflections tied to your selected learning outcomes. Completed experiences can no longer be edited by the student.
What kind of evidence is acceptable for an experience?
For a service experience, students MUST include an official report of their hours from a member of the organization with which they volunteered. This can consist of: a signed CAS form, an email from the organization’s domain, or a report used by the organization. Students may also request a supervisor review through Managebac after they have written their reflection, and the completed supervisor review acts as their evidence.
What kind of evidence is NOT acceptable for an experience?
Photos of experiences are encouraged and appreciated, but for service hours, they cannot suffice as evidence on their own. Screen shots of a sign-up or just a portion of a CAS sheet with no signature are likewise not accepted as evidence.
